Bhopal: Vijayvargiya urges CM to take action against Scindia

BHOPAL: Politics has started hotting up after chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during the course of his speech at the state executive meeting of the BJP, alleged that Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia had used land belonging to a trust for business purposes.

BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya demanded legal action against Scindia on Sunday. In a Tweet, Vijayvargiya said that if the CM has levelled the charge, he should have done so on the basis of facts and evidence, adding that the state government should now immediately initiate legal action against Scindia.

He said the CM’s allegation that Scindia was using trust property for personal gains was very serious. “I am surprised that the son of Madhavrao Scindia is acting like a land mafia. He has ruined the glorious reputation of the Scindia family.”

The Congress has hit back at Chouhan, saying the levelling of such charges without coming out with details and facts was unbecoming of a chief minister. Congress chief spokesperson KK Mishra said Chouhan was chief minister for the past 11 years. “Why did he keep mum for all these years?” He also demanded that a probe should be launched into the affairs of the Rohit Housing Society.

During the run-up to the 2013 assembly elections, BJP national vice-president Prabha Jha had also charged Scindia with illegally occupying land belonging to a trust in Shivpuri. The issue was taken to a high pitch but everyone fell silent after the BJP won the elections and formed its government in the state. Chouhan has now again raised the issue, kicking up a minor storm.
