Mallepally ITI to be developed into model institute: Nayani

Hyderabad: The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Mallepally would be developed into a model institute to effectively impart training to youngsters, said Home, Labour and Employment Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy here on Monday.

There are 235 private and 65 government run institutes in the State. Of them, 39 government institutes have permanent buildings while construction of seven was already completed. The government has allocated Rs 30 crore for taking various works in these institutes, the Minister said while replying to a question raised by MLCs Gangadhar Goud Vullolla, Sabavat Ramulu Naik and Patnam Narender Reddy during Question Hour in Legislative Council.

Reddy said new equipment would be purchased for Mallepally ITI at a cost of over Rs 3 crore. “We are entering into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various companies to impart training to trainees in various fields,” he said. When the members asked whether there would be any checks on private institutes, the Minister said surprise inspections would be conducted and if any anomalies were found, notices would be issued to the managements concerned.

Companies like Bharat Dynamics Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Mahindra and Mahindra Limited etc were coming forward to give training to students at the institutes, he said.

Reddy said campus placement drives were taken up regularly for the trainees who are about to complete courses, he added.
