Fresh Sushil salvo: Lalu family has Rs 115 cr benami property

Patna : Former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday alleged that five diamond merchants from Mumbai had given interest free loans to RJD president Lalu Prasad in 2007-08 for purchase of a palatial house in New Friends Colony of New Delhi. Each of the diamond merchants gave Rs one crore to Lalu’s sons.

Releasing documents, Modi said No D 1088, New Friends Colony where A B Exports private limited is housed, is owned by the deputy chief minister, Tejaswi Yadav and Chanda Yadav, daughter of Lalu. Tejaswi owns 98 per cent of the share of the company and Chanda two per cent.

According to the balance sheet – A B Exports private limited, Alka Diamond industries, Real Gold Trading Company private limited, Hema trading company private limited, Lexus Infotech limited and Yash Jewels Limited, gave interest free loans to Lalu children for purchase of the house which was valued at Rs 5 crores in 2007-08. Its land value is now Rs 55 crores and house is valued at Rs 60 crores, according to the current market rate.

Modi said according to the balance sheet prepared by S K Nayak and company of chartered accountant, there is no employee in the company. It is a shell company like 20 other such companies owned by Lalu and his family where black money has been turned into white.

Modi said the chief minister Nitish Kumar was silent on the benami transactions of Lalu family and he did not allow the agencies to launch investigations on the controversial deals of the RJD president’s family members.
