IoT incubation centre at Basar

Hyderabad: Telangana is looking at focused efforts to improve the startup and innovation ecosystem from stakeholders not just in Hyderabad but also in the districts. One such initiative is coming in the form of what could be country’s first-of-its kind incubation centre dedicated to internet of things (IoT).

iBuild Innovations India, an organisation established to facilitate innovation and entrepreneurship through startup hubs spread across the country, is setting up an internet of things (IoT) incubation centre in Basar in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT). The centre will be operational next month.

IoT is an inter-networking of physical devices, vehicles, buildings, and other objects embedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity which enable these objects to collect and exchange data.

iBuild Innovations India CEO Radha Alekhya Kommanaboina told Telangana Today, “At this centre, we are establishing state-of-the-art infrastructure required for IoT startups to create prototypes of IoT products. Our vision is to develop an IoT ecosystem in the region and thereby provide opportunities to youth from Tier-3 and Tier-4 cities. We will also be providing training in IoT to students in Basar. This training will be majorly focused in developing the skill sets of students who are interested in pursuing a career in IoT.”

Big plans

The company operates eight startup hubs under the iB Hubs brand in Telangana at present. So far, iB Hubs has supported 73 startups across the country and of them over 30 are from Hyderabad. They include CyberEye founded by Ram Ganesh that works on training and research in cyber security. An Edtech startup (stealth mode) founded by Neerad Kumar works on providing affordable international education to people using technology. Make The World Wonderful, founded by Meghana Dabbara, is an NGO working to build harmony in society.

iBuild is also conducting “Power to India” workshops in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh to create awareness on entrepreneurship and advanced technologies among youth, especially from Tier-2, Tier-3 cities.

As a part of this programme, it will conduct over 16 workshops across Telangana covering Hyderabad along with other places such as Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad in August and September.
